Mar. 2, 2007 The Florida Swing
I’m obviously disappointed that my final tournament of the West Coast Swing didn’t last a little longer, but I’m looking forward to this year’s Florida Swing. I’m hitting the ball well and I feel like I’m putting well, sometimes good putts just don’t go in the hole.
I’m playing this week in the Honda Classic which is now being held at PGA National. I hear the rough is high and the fairways are narrow, so it should be a good test. I always look forward to this time of the year, as I’m very familiar with the golf course conditions and I enjoy playing on bermudagrass. I also like the fact that I’ll be close to home for the next couple of months. I’m planning to play Bay Hill and The World Golf Championship at Doral leading into The Masters in April.
I’m staying busy away from the course as well. Fortunately, my golf course design company has a lot going on with four courses currently under construction. In the last couple of weeks, my brother Mark and I have made site visits to River Hall Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida, and just this past Monday we were in Kannapolis, North Carolina checking on our redesign of the Kannapolis Country Club. Construction on both courses is progressing nicely, although a heavy rain Sunday night made for a muddy walk-through at Kannapolis. Course design is something I find really fascinating and I’m excited about the work our design team is producing.
