Driver Titleist 905R, 7.5 degrees, 45 inches with a Fujikura Vista Tour 70 shaft, X-flex

This is the biggest driver I've ever hit (455cc), and it's the straightest.

Fairway Wood Titleist prototype (13.0); UST ProForce V2 graphite shaft

I use a prototype F03 Titleist fairway wood. It's 13 degrees bent to 12.5 with a 43-inch Fujikura Pro95 shaft. I keep it at a D-4 swingweight to match my irons, but I like my driver heavier at D-5.

Utility Wood Titleist prototype (17.0); Fujikura Speeder 904 graphite shaft
Irons Titleist Forged 695MB irons (3-P); Royal Precision Rifle Project X steel shafts

I started using Titleist 695MB irons (half-inch over standard, D-4 swingweights) at the 2004 British Open, and I'm back with them after playing the 680 irons.

The 60 is true to its loft, but I bend the 56 to 55.

Putter Scotty Cameron by Titleist prototype putter

It's 34 inches with 4 degrees of loft and a D-2 swingweight. The finish is what Scotty calls Black Pearl Mist. The look, even down to the dull finish, is similar to the Ping Anser-style putter I've used since the '80s.

I play the Titleist Pro V1x (original version), and I mark it with a dot between the name and the number.

Davis on Equipment & Preparation

Pit stop »
The guys in the equipment trailer work on my clubs most of the time. I used to check the lies and lofts on my machine at home. But now I do it by feel and ball flight. If I get to a tournament and my 5-iron feels funny, then I just say, "Hey, does this look like it's going left?" They'll say, "Yeah, we'll fix it," and they bend it a degree flatter.

Steve Pate's rage »
I used to use only white tees because my friend Steve Pate once told me he would use only white tees. He would break all the colored ones he found. He would smash them. I've overcome that phobia. I don't know if Pate has.

I like extra shoes »
Three to five pairs usually make the trip. I always carry brown-and-white saddle shoes and all black. If I have those two, I can travel.

Points »
I carry raingear, sunscreen, band-aids and Sharpies. The fine point works well for marking your ball and signing autographs.

Oat goodness »
I eat just about anything, but unless I play extremely early, I like to eat a decent breakfast. At Turnberry, I eat oatmeal every day.
